Jackie Greene led his band through a set opening for Blues Traveler and Leftover Salmon at the scenic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on July 4. Greene welcomed old pal Bob Weir to guest on three songs and pro-shot video of the whole set has been shared in time for this week’s Full Show Friday column.
Bobby and Jackie kicked off the festivities with an a capella rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in a reprise of a performance of the national anthem from May 8 before an NBA Playoff game at Oakland’s Oracle Arena. Then, Greene fronted his band on originals “I’m So Gone” and “Tupelo.”
Weir returned to join Greene and his band on The Temptations’ “Shakey Ground” and the Dead’s “Sugaree.” Jackie and company continued on with the pairing of “Animal” and “I Don’t Live In A Dream” from the Sacramento native’s 2008 LP, Giving Up The Ghost. A cover of The J.B.’s “Doing It To Death” was followed by the set-closing sequence of “Hollywood” and “Hallelujah.”
