Blues Traveler, Leftover Salmon, and Jackie Greene welcomed Denverites to Red Rocks Amphitheatreon Thursday for the 2019 edition of their annual 4th of July celebration worthy of the party-filled national holiday.
The night was started by Jackie Greene, who delivered a wonderful opening performance as fans began to fill the picturesque outdoor amphitheater to begin the show. The night started with a notable surprise sit-in from Bob Weir, who’s in the Denver/Boulder area this weekend for Dead & Company‘s two performances at Folsom Field on Friday and Saturday. Together, Weir and Greene led the venue in a duet performance of the country’s National Anthem, a song they know all too well together, in addition to a cover of The Temptations‘ “Standing On Shaky Ground”.

Leftover Salmon was up next, followed by the final headlining set from Blues Traveler, who returned to Red Rocks for the fourth consecutive year to help celebrate America’s birthday.
Song’s included in Blues Traveler’s holiday set heard the band playing originals “Optimistic Thought”, “Run-Around”, and “The Mountains Win Again”, in addition to notable sit-in from Greene during “Carolina Blues”. The set also heard the band sharing a pair of covers with The Charlie Daniel’s Band‘s “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and John Lennon‘s “Imagine” during the one-song encore.
